For the 4th year running, Beechworth Secondary College will host the Beechworth Fun Run/Walk as their major fundraising event. We have enjoyed significant growth each year and 2010 promises to be even better with 2 excellent routes and hundreds of dollars of prizes for participants.
This year our run/walk was recognised by ‘Run 4 Your Life’ magazine as the ‘Most Family Friendly’ Run and was listed in their top ‘Must Do’ runs for 2010.
Thanks to the feedback from runners in previous races, there is a new ‘Veterans’ category from this year in the 10km event for those 60 and over on the day.
We have also introduced online registrations to streamline things for participants and organizers. You can go to the school website (link below) and complete your registration anytime up to 6pm on Thursday 1st April.
After that time all registrations will be cash on the day up to 8.45am.
Race time is 9am on Saturday 3rd April (Easter Saturday) from the Beechworth Secondary College in Balaclava Road. Participants will need to collect their race number on the day, so be sure to arrive early. There will be a BBQ breakfast from 7.30am with egg & bacon rolls and sausages available to purchase.

Distinguished Australian author, chef and restaurateur, Stephanie Alexander OAM, (pictured) will
make a special guest appearance at the opening event of Beechworth’s famous Harvest Celebration in May.
The founder of the nationally expanding Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation will be guest
speaker at the Harvest Celebration Gala Dinner at Beechworth’s Memorial Hall on Friday 14 May.
The dinner will be hosted by Barb Lowery, noted ABC food broadcaster and writer.
Guest chef, Michel Renoux, well known for dishing up superb fare at Stanley’s Galloping Goat, the Milawa
Cheese Factory restaurant, and more recently, the Ageing Frog gourmet Fish & Chip shop in Beechworth,
will prepare a fabulous feast highlighting the superb food, wine and beer of the North East Victorian
Region.

Ned Kelly Weekend

The originalsuits of armour worn by all four members of the Kelly Gang at the siege of Glenrowan will feature as a major highlight of the 2010 BeechworthNed Kelly Weekend from 6 – 8 August, the BeechworthHistorical Re-enactment Group(BHRG)announced.
The exhibition is a coup for Beechworth and marks only the fourth time since 1880 that the complete set of Kelly Gang armour has been shown, and the first time outside a capital city.
Now in its eighth year and widely regarded as this country’s most important annual celebration of the Kelly legend, the 2010 Ned Kelly Weekend will commemorate the 130th anniversary of the outlaw’scommittal hearing held in the historic Beechworth Courthouse from 6 to 11 August 1880, and his execution on 11 November 1880.
